Focusing Arm Modifications

The focusing arm was modified to include a push/pull tilt mechanism. It was also machined down to allow for mirror tilt. There are 3 pairs of push/pull bolts and 3 locking bolts.

The main ring on the focusing arm is aluminium. The mirror flange is stainless steel.

The big Hex bolts are the anchor points. They support the weight of the mirror on three points and are threaded directly into the stainless steel sleeve in turn bonded with RTV to the mirror glass.

The smaller Hex bolts next to the big anchors bolts are the push screws. Releasing the big ones and screwing the small ones will tilt the mirror forward and vice versa. Very fine adjustments can be achieved this way.
The other three screws are additional locking points around the periphery of the ring to improve stiffness as the whole primary weight is now loading all these bolts.
